Compass Church values people above programs, vision over status quo, effectiveness over tradition, and the needs of others over our own. In short, Compass Church exists to help people:
- KNOW God intimately,
- GROW in relationship with Him and others;
- GO serve the church and world.
Our mission is drawn from two important statements of Jesus:
The Great Commandment — “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-40)
The Great Commission — “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
Essentially, we are being called to follow in Jesus’ footsteps and to carry out the work that he began.
As a church family, success is not measured in terms of bodies, bucks, or buildings. Rather, it is measured by the impact we have on people’s lives (and, in turn, the impact they have on the lives of others). Our desire is to be contagious in our enthusiasm for our intimate friendship with God, and to be living demonstrations of how his love changes lives. Ultimately, we can fulfill our purpose only by relying upon the leadership and power of God in all that we do. We are his church, seeking to accomplish his desires, so that he will receive all the glory. |
